From Round to Square (and back)

For The Emperor's Teacher, scroll down (↓) to "Topics." It's the management book that will rock the world (and break the vase, as you will see). Click or paste the following link for a recent profile of the project: http://magazine.beloit.edu/?story_id=240813&issue_id=240610

A new post appears every day at 12:05* (CDT). There's more, though. Take a look at the right-hand side of the page for over four years of material (2,000 posts and growing) from Seinfeld and country music to every single day of the Chinese lunar calendar...translated. Look here ↓ and explore a little. It will take you all the way down the page...from round to square (and back again).
*Occasionally I will leave a long post up for thirty-six hours, and post a shorter entry at noon the next day.

Lunar World Preview 2018 04-11

As the Lunar World Turns
Wednesday, April 11, 2018
[a] Preview Kitten RF
One word—wow. What a day (in a good way). Let's get right to it.

Day Personality
(Section Five—Characters Six and Seven)
Today's "constellation personality" is Running Board (). Calendrical interpretations stress that it is called the "Celestial Carriage." The basic idea is that the car(riage) is flying across the sky, and, by extension, through life (today...in Lunar World). Whatever is done today comes back in positive terms. Top-notch. Best-of-the-best.

The jianchu "personality" is Grasp (), and it is also so wonderfully good that you'll have to pinch yourself to remind you about this great day. There is so much winning today that you are going to get tired of all the winning. Stretch yourself, grasp, reach for the stars.

Lucky Stars
(Section Two)
There are three beneficent asterisms today, including Generational Virtue (歲德), Linked Days (合日), and Six Linkages (六合).

Auspicious Times
(Section Three)
There are four inauspicious (凶) two-hour periods, three in-between () times, and five auspicious () times. Creeping auspiciousness inflation.
Things to Avoid
[c] Haircut RF
(Section Four)
It's a bad day for Lawsuits and Litigation (詞訟), Repairing Granaries (修倉), and Moving Soil (動土). Think about these (and then don't do them...in Lunar World).

Just Plain Counting
(Section Four—Characters 1-4)
It is the twenty-sixth () day of the second lunar month. The cycle of sixty character is #10: guiyou (癸酉). The days cycle—1, 2, 3, 58, 59, 60, 1, 2, 3...—in perpetuity.

Elemental (and Phased)
(Section Five—Character 5)
Today's slice of the "Five Phases" (sometimes called the "Five Elements") is Metal (金). Ordinarily, the Five Phases weave their way, two-by-two, through the calendar. Yesterday was Metal. Today is Metal, and tomorrow is Fire.

Appropriate Things
(Section Six)
It's a solid day for twelve different things, including Marriage Engagements (訂婚), Marriage Alliances (嫁娶), Haircuts (理髮), and Seizing and Capturing (捕捉).

Solar Periods
(Section Six—Upper and Middle)
We are in the fifth of the twenty-four fifteen day solar periods (the 二十四節氣), which began on Thursday, April 4 and runs April 19. It is called Qingming (清明). We are in the fourteenth of the five-day solar micro periods (the 七十二候). It is called Moles Become Quails (桐始華), and began on Tuesday, April 10, and runs through Saturday, April 14.
Fear Your Unlucky Stars
(Bottom of Section Six)
The baleful asterisms (the bottom of section six) are Five Voids (五虛) and Widespread Pond (咸池).  The third is one of the "Zodiacal Mouths" asterisms (every one of the twelve zodiacal creatures has a "mouth asterism") is Chicken Mouth (雞口). I like to think of it as Fowl Mouth, and now go wash out your mouth with soup, er soap.

Miscellaneous Omens and Activities
(Sections Seven and Eight)

Today's miscellaneous omen is Bifurcation (丫). The miscellaneous activities are Edifice (房), Gate (門), and Bed (牀). Nobody knows what they mean, and I mean that, based upon years of fieldwork.
