But now that I have your attention anyway, I would like to discuss the origins of my home state's name.

I'm no etymologist (seen one insect, seen 'em all),* but I hear that it comes from Choctaw, and that it means something like "clearing the thicket." 

Well, I'm just a simple farmboy, so I sort of like that idea. Take a look.
