My new (weekly) column on the UK website "New Religion—Religion, Politics, Analysis" is up. This week I wrote about what China was called by almost every writer, right up to about 1800 or so. It wasn't "China," or even (usually) 中國/中国. It was, rather, all under heaven (天下). The implications are enormous.
